MuchMusic – My Date With Ke$ha!
July 23rd, 2010 ♥ Posted by Chloe ♥ Posted in Articles, Interviews

I entered this contest not knowing what to expect. I mean, what were the chances of me actually winning? I had been listening to Ke$ha’s music long before it was being played on the radio, something I eventually told her in person. Of course being Ke$ha’s biggest fan, I was determined to meet her. I spent so much time and put so much effort into my video entry to ensure my chances of winning.

After a week full of anticipation wondering if I was in the running, it all paid off. I finally received a call from MuchMusic telling me that I was indeed a finalist. Upon hearing the good news, I immediately called my mom and my best friend in hysterics. I was beyond excited! I felt confident, but a small part of me was still apprehensive. What if I didn’t win?

I rounded up 10 of my friends to be at my place before MuchMusic arrived for a celebration if I won and for support if I lost. Either way, I was ready for MuchMusic to arrive to hand me the envelope that would determine my fate. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, there was a knock at the door. It was VJ Jesse Giddings and the whole camera crew! At my house! In Jesse’s hand was an envelope. The envelope that would tell me if I had won or not. My nerves got the better of me and I struggled to rip the envelope open, but when I finally managed to open it, the note inside read:

“Thank you for entering this contest….
we regret to inform you that you have to leave the party.
‘Cause you’re going on a date with Ke$ha!!”

I could not believe what I had just read. I barely finished reading it when the room was filled with screaming, cheering, and of course, a lot of excitement! I was told that I was allowed to pick a friend, so I chose my friend Olivia to accompany me on my date.
When I walked outside I was greeted with a shiny white stretch Hummer limo that was ours for the day. Not only was there a limo, but when we got inside, we were showered with gifts from MuchMusic!

Our first stop was shopping! We arrived at a store called 69 Vintage where Ke$ha had been known to shop when she was last in Toronto. We were told we only had a short time to look around because we were running behind schedule, so I grabbed a few outfits to try on. Since we were short for time the woman helping us in the store also handed me a couple of outfits to try on. Olivia and I were both given the outfits to try on first, and although mine was a bit too big for me, I was still excited. We were told to come out of the dressing room at the count of five. Opening the curtain I immediately looked over to see what Olivia was wearing. I heard a voice say, “You guys look rad!” When I turned to look at who was speaking, I saw Ke$ha. She was standing right there outside our change room! I couldn’t believe it! I was not expecting her to be right in front of us at that very moment. We were granted a couple of extra minutes to shop together, so I was able to choose a completely different outfit that I was happy with. Along with the coolest boots ever, by the way! Before leaving the store Ke$ha told us that our next stop was the zoo. Apparently she wasn’t supposed to tell us just yet but she was excited to see the animals and gave it away too quickly. She was just as excited as we were! Well, almost.

When first arriving at the Toronto zoo we hopped in the golf cart that was waiting for us and began our private tour. Riding on the golf cart going from place to place was one of my favourite parts of the date, because it allowed me to ask Ke$ha the questions I had prepared in advance. I didn’t waste any time, and quickly whipped out my list of questions (which I happened to have in my pocket) to conduct my own interview. For all you Ke$ha fans, she IS definitely getting ideas together for a new CD! I was able to ask all my interview questions and she answered them with such enthusiasm. Afterward she told me that I had done such a good job with my interview that I should make this a career choice! That made me feel great. Jesse, Olivia, Ke$ha, and I even came up with rap names for ourselves. I was L’il Ti, Olivia was O’Fish, Ke$ha was K-Money, and Jesse was JJ Bunny! One of my questions even lead to me rapping, haha, oh gosh!

We arrived at our first stop at the zoo, which was feeding the giraffes! This was a ton of fun and certainly something I’ve never done before. Afterward we hopped right back in our golf cart, where I asked about her tattoos. With no hesitation, Ke$ha explained all of her tattoos and what they mean to her. I even got the full story of Stephen. He is for real! And now I know why he didn’t call her!

Our next stop at the zoo was feeding the stingrays. A lot of inside jokes were made there, like “smelly fingers”. When we finished feeding the “smelly stingrays”, we headed back to our golf cart. Our time at the zoo was coming to an end, but Ke$ha informed us that we had one more stop to make. We would be heading back to MuchMusic to get a backstage tour of the MMVA’s which were taking place the very next night. Excited, we took a ride to MuchMusic headquarters where Jesse gave us the inside scoop on the celebrities and where they would be in their “blue rooms” before their performances. I must say, after seeing what happens backstage, I can really appreciate the work that goes into putting on such a big televised event. The line up of performers this year was going to bring it to the stage!

After our backstage tour Ke$ha pulled out two wristbands for the MMVA’s! That meant that we had great tickets to enjoy the show. We were so excited and grateful. But then, as if that wasn’t enough, she told us that during her performance of Tik Tok, she wanted us to come up on stage and dance! Olivia and I freaked! I couldn’t believe my ears. How many people get the chance to share the stage with their favourite performer? We were so honored and excited to have that opportunity. In addition to the MMVA wristbands, she also gave us two tickets to see her concert with Rihanna on August 5! We then said our good-byes for the day, but knowing I would be on stage with her for rehearsal and for her actual performance the following day made the good-bye a little bit easier. MuchMusic told us that we would have to arrive early the next morning for the MMVA rehearsals to learn the choreography, which made us even more excited.

The following day of infinite rehearsals was exhausting, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and we did get to see Ke$ha again. We even saw Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Down With Webster, and Katy Perry rehearse.

That night we had been enjoying the show as part of the audience, but were called backstage just before Ke$ha’s performance, as part of the show. I was able to say a quick hello and good luck to her before she went on. It was time to go on stage. On stage! Live at the MMVAs! What a rush! Dancing on stage and being part of Ke$ha’s performance was a dream come true. I will never forget it.

The jokes, the laughs, the adventure and the memories from My Date With Ke$ha is something I will forever remember. Now that I’ve had the chance to meet her, I think Ke$ha is not only a great performer, but an amazing individual. She deserves much more credit than she is granted for being the very strong woman that she is. She is bold, brave, and not afraid to be herself. Before this experience I thought I was a huge Ke$ha fan, but now that I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with her, I’m an even bigger fan! A big thank you to Ke$ha for giving up so much of her time to spend with us. Thank you also to MuchMusic for selecting me out of hundreds of entries to experience such an amazing opportunity of a lifetime. I cannot thank you enough!

Ke$ha Strips Down And Glitters Up In ‘Take It Off’ Video
July 23rd, 2010 ♥ Posted by Chloe ♥ Posted in Interviews, Videos

Ke$ha recently told MTV News that during downtime on tour with Rihanna, the pop princesses “have slumber parties and pillow fights and … talk about boys, naked.” And it sounds like that stripped-down sensibility has carried over to her upcoming “Take It Off” video.

“It’s my favorite video, I think, ever, that I’ve done because I get to get really dirty in glitter sand, and we all get naked because we’re just, like, taking it all off,” she said.

But the “Take It Off” clip isn’t just about taking off your clothes and rolling in glitter. “It’s also about taking off your inhibitions and being raw and real,” Ke$ha said. “And then we start tearing each other apart into pieces, and we’re all made out of glittery magic dust … star dust.”

OK, so maybe it is mostly about getting naked. Either way, Ke$ha says the video is still her favorite. Not even the recent clip of Israeli soldiers dancing to her hit “Tik Tok” or the May 2 episode of “The Simpsons” that used the song in its opening sequence could top it.

And yet those were pretty cool. “It’s amazing … I love it,” she sad. “Having Israeli soldiers dancing to ‘Tik Tok’ and landing the opening of ‘The Simpsons’ … [they're] dreams. It’s been a pretty good year.”

Neon Hitch Talks Ke$ha.
July 23rd, 2010 ♥ Posted by Chloe ♥ Posted in Interviews

English singer/songwriter Neon Hitch talks about her influences, her upcoming album Beg Borrow And Steal and collaborations in a new interview. Her credits include co-writer on Ke$ha single “Blah Blah Blah” featuring 3OH!3, and featuring on the latter act’s Almost Alice contribution “Follow Me Down.”

Kazemi: What were the “Animal” sessions like with Ke$ha? Did “Blah Blah Blah” have your vocals in the early takes?

Neon: I am doing lower vocals underneath in the chorus but you probably can’t hear it because they are tucked away….. We wrote it together all on the bed, she kinda laid it as we wrote it.. So I never really had to demo anything.

Kazemi: Do you think you’ll work with her again in the future?

Neon: Oh yeah! Definitely she’s probably gonna do something on my record, she’s writing something right now for my album…I’m gonna do some more work with her for her next release. I love working with her, she’s a lot of fun!

Ke$ha talks Nashville flood benefit
June 18th, 2010 ♥ Posted by Chloe ♥ Posted in Articles, Interviews, Preformaces

Since her album debuted at No. 1 in January, pop superstar and Nashville resident Ke$ha has spent much of this year basking in global fame. Now, she’s getting a chance to put the focus on rebuilding her hometown. She’s headlining her own Nashville flood relief concert at Limelight Nashville on June 16, with 100 percent of profits going to help flood victims.

We spoke with the 23-year-old singer on Tuesday about the benefit, her reaction to the flood, and how she spends her downtime in Music City.

What made you want to put on your own flood benefit concert?

“Nashville’s my home, and more than that I kind of think Tennessee’s the soul of America. I’ve grown up here and absolutely love Nashville. I feel like it’s all of our responsibilites as members of this community to give back, myself especially.

“If I’m in any sort of position to give back more so than somebody else, I want to do everything and anything I can to help Tennessee and Nashville especially. There are so many places here that hold a very special place in my heart, like Tootsie’s and Robert’s and Lonnie’s, Jack’s Barbecue, and obviously the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman . . . We still have a community and each other, and I really want to bring people together, and try to make as much money as possible for Nashville, because we can rebuild and we are rebuilding. Support is really important, especially for the people who lost pets or houses, cars and especially loved ones. I just want to do anything in my power to help.”
Do you remember what you were doing/where you were when the flood came in?

“I was somewhere, and my Mom called me and she’s like ‘It’s raining,’ I thought, ‘Oh, OK. No big deal.’ Then the next day, she said ‘It’s kind of a problem. The basement is flooding a little bit.’ But we’ve had that issue before with just a little bit of water. I didn’t really understand the magnitude of the situation, but it was next day that I saw a little bit on the news and I talked to my mom, and she said it was a national tragedy, really. I didn’t really comprehend it until the next day, when I flew over Nashville and I saw bodies of water that I thought were lakes with roofs of houses in the middle of them.

“My plane touched down, and my mom picked me up, and there was just this weirdness in the air. She told me about everything that had been happening, and we just went straight to Sam’s Club and bought as much dog and cat food as we could pile into the car and took it to the Humane Society, because I’m a huge animal lover. I was thinking that I can do so much more. I mean, anybody can give what they can, their time, or a little bit of money, and for me, that was a bunch of dog food, but I’m really in the position finally to help in a big way, which is to me, one of the biggest upsides of the whole fame thing. Really, the only part of celebrity culture I take seriously is the fact that I am going to get to reach a lot of people about something this serious, that a lot of people need to be aware of. So I’m excited to get to use my fun little dancy pop songs to reach a large audience and hopefully make a lot of money for a lot of families that can’t help themselves.”

How did your mom’s basement turn out?

“Oh, it’s fine. We have kind of a dog rescue at my house, but all of the animals were fine, and the basement’s fine. I mean, we got some stuff ruined, but it’s not even worth talking about in comparison with what other families have lost. I just feel very lucky that it was just a bunch of stuff and no animals, no people and nothing really expensive.”
Is this show a one-of-a-kind thing, or close to what you’re going to be doing on tour with Rihanna this Summer?

“It’s not full-on what I’m going to be bringing to the stage with Rihanna, because the tour is obviously on a massive, massive stage. . . . This show is exciting because I’m playing the songs I’m most proud of on the record, that are maybe a little bit more serious, which I think will be fitting with the mood, the situation and why I’m playing this show.

“I’ll be playing (Animal’s) title track for one of the first times ever, and a song called ‘Stephen’ about this guy who used to live here named Stephen, so I’m really hoping he comes to the show, because that would be so horribly, terribly and wonderfully awkward. It’s still going to be a dance party, but I am very aware of why I’m playing it, so I’m not going to act like too much of a crazy idiot.”

What’s it like to come back to Nashville when you have some downtime?

“It’s amazing. I’ve been home for 24 hours and I’ve already been jet skiing and tubing, and yesterday I went canoeing in a thunderstorm with my little brother. I just love that I come here and totally escape into my animal side, and everyone here is also super respectful. I don’t need security or anything when I’m here. I can just go out for coffee and nobody really cares about it . . . everyone’s cool and wants to hang out.”
Ke$ha’s flood benefit concert starts tonight (June 16) at 7 p.m. at Limelight Nashville (201 Woodland St., 780‑3099). Online tickets are sold out, but will still be available at the door for $30. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show is all ages.

Big update
June 12th, 2010 ♥ Posted by Chloe ♥ Posted in Appearances, Billboard Charts, Interviews, Photoshoot, Pictures, Preformaces, Videos

Straight to the good stuff in part 2 of our Ke$ha interview: Adam Lambert – does he kiss like a star of porn or romcoms? If the answer to that particular question doesn’t excite you, we have a treasure trove of other delights. Firstly, I give Ke$ha a big sniff to confirm whether she has recently graced a shower. And then there’s some talking about boozin’, giant…. beards (yes, we wondered where she was going with that one too), and the fact that squids actually birth and then EAT their offspring. One final thing? Oh go on then. We ask Ms Sebert if she’ll take take an 18-year old gay boy and much-loved TT member JamieJayLamb under her wing (and off our hands) by adopting him? Hit ‘see more’ to see what she says.

Ke$ha will be performing at the Much Music Video Awards on 20th of June at 9PM on Fuse. Can’t wait to see her perfomance!

SHE’S taken the music world by storm but woman of the moment Ke$ha still found time to chat to OK! TV – and she’s simply lovely!
In an exclusive interview with OK! TV presenter Kristy Harper, Ke$ha reveals what the lyrics to her hit tune Tik Tok really mean, who her wonderfully kooky fashion icons are and what her ideal man looks like.

In case you’re wondering, he’s fat and a mash-up of Wolverine from X-Men and a bearded magician.

But the 23-year-old singer really cracked us up when she gave us her insight into what she thinks about her craziest fans – particularly the one who follows her around the world and buys her presents.

She said: “I had a stalker but I don’t really get that offended because… I’ve stalked people. So I think it’s kind of funny as long as they don’t try to kill me and wear my skin.”

Hmmm.

Watch the interview here!

That Grape Juice Interviews Ke$ha from Sam A on Vimeo.

That Grape Juice caught up with Pop rebel Ke$ha earlier this week here in London town. Ever upfront and to-the-point, the 23 year old talked about her rapid rise to fame, her thoughts on suggestion that she is “just a gimmick”, autotune, 2010 Britney Spears, Rihanna being an “icon”, her new album, and much more. The ‘Tik Tok’ singer also agrees to perform an impromptu acapella.

As ever we ask the questions you really want answers to! Enjoy…

* Be sure to crank your speakers up, as the sound is a tad tempramental on this one.

Well done to Ke$ha as her third single, Your Love Is My Drug, reaches number 1!
