At the tender age of 16, Kesha dropped out of school and moved to Los Angeles to make her mark in the recording industry under the wing of famous producer Dr. Luke. Kesha eventually went back to school for her GED demonstrating her committment to her career and education. It turns out moving to L.A. was the best thing she ever did and ended up with her guesting on tracks by Flo Rida and Taio Cruz, appearing in the Katy Perry video for “I Kissed a Girl” and co-writing songs for Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears, including the mega-hit Till the World Ends. Now, following her worldwide success on the electro-pop scene Kesha is setting her eyes on an old school rock album. Perhaps she’ll find inspiration on upcoming Van Halen tour dates. With Kesha’s instincts, whatever the outcome it’s sure to be brilliant. |

I entered this contest not knowing what to expect. I mean, what were the chances of me actually winning? I had been listening to Ke$ha’s music long before it was being played on the radio, something I eventually told her in person. Of course being Ke$ha’s biggest fan, I was determined to meet her. I spent so much time and put so much effort into my video entry to ensure my chances of winning. After a week full of anticipation wondering if I was in the running, it all paid off. I finally received a call from MuchMusic telling me that I was indeed a finalist. Upon hearing the good news, I immediately called my mom and my best friend in hysterics. I was beyond excited! I felt confident, but a small part of me was still apprehensive. What if I didn’t win? I rounded up 10 of my friends to be at my place before MuchMusic arrived for a celebration if I won and for support if I lost. Either way, I was ready for MuchMusic to arrive to hand me the envelope that would determine my fate. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, there was a knock at the door. It was VJ Jesse Giddings and the whole camera crew! At my house! In Jesse’s hand was an envelope. The envelope that would tell me if I had won or not. My nerves got the better of me and I struggled to rip the envelope open, but when I finally managed to open it, the note inside read: “Thank you for entering this contest…. I could not believe what I had just read. I barely finished reading it when the room was filled with screaming, cheering, and of course, a lot of excitement! I was told that I was allowed to pick a friend, so I chose my friend Olivia to accompany me on my date. Our first stop was shopping! We arrived at a store called 69 Vintage where Ke$ha had been known to shop when she was last in Toronto. We were told we only had a short time to look around because we were running behind schedule, so I grabbed a few outfits to try on. Since we were short for time the woman helping us in the store also handed me a couple of outfits to try on. Olivia and I were both given the outfits to try on first, and although mine was a bit too big for me, I was still excited. We were told to come out of the dressing room at the count of five. Opening the curtain I immediately looked over to see what Olivia was wearing. I heard a voice say, “You guys look rad!” When I turned to look at who was speaking, I saw Ke$ha. She was standing right there outside our change room! I couldn’t believe it! I was not expecting her to be right in front of us at that very moment. We were granted a couple of extra minutes to shop together, so I was able to choose a completely different outfit that I was happy with. Along with the coolest boots ever, by the way! Before leaving the store Ke$ha told us that our next stop was the zoo. Apparently she wasn’t supposed to tell us just yet but she was excited to see the animals and gave it away too quickly. She was just as excited as we were! Well, almost. When first arriving at the Toronto zoo we hopped in the golf cart that was waiting for us and began our private tour. Riding on the golf cart going from place to place was one of my favourite parts of the date, because it allowed me to ask Ke$ha the questions I had prepared in advance. I didn’t waste any time, and quickly whipped out my list of questions (which I happened to have in my pocket) to conduct my own interview. For all you Ke$ha fans, she IS definitely getting ideas together for a new CD! I was able to ask all my interview questions and she answered them with such enthusiasm. Afterward she told me that I had done such a good job with my interview that I should make this a career choice! That made me feel great. Jesse, Olivia, Ke$ha, and I even came up with rap names for ourselves. I was L’il Ti, Olivia was O’Fish, Ke$ha was K-Money, and Jesse was JJ Bunny! One of my questions even lead to me rapping, haha, oh gosh! We arrived at our first stop at the zoo, which was feeding the giraffes! This was a ton of fun and certainly something I’ve never done before. Afterward we hopped right back in our golf cart, where I asked about her tattoos. With no hesitation, Ke$ha explained all of her tattoos and what they mean to her. I even got the full story of Stephen. He is for real! And now I know why he didn’t call her! Our next stop at the zoo was feeding the stingrays. A lot of inside jokes were made there, like “smelly fingers”. When we finished feeding the “smelly stingrays”, we headed back to our golf cart. Our time at the zoo was coming to an end, but Ke$ha informed us that we had one more stop to make. We would be heading back to MuchMusic to get a backstage tour of the MMVA’s which were taking place the very next night. Excited, we took a ride to MuchMusic headquarters where Jesse gave us the inside scoop on the celebrities and where they would be in their “blue rooms” before their performances. I must say, after seeing what happens backstage, I can really appreciate the work that goes into putting on such a big televised event. The line up of performers this year was going to bring it to the stage! After our backstage tour Ke$ha pulled out two wristbands for the MMVA’s! That meant that we had great tickets to enjoy the show. We were so excited and grateful. But then, as if that wasn’t enough, she told us that during her performance of Tik Tok, she wanted us to come up on stage and dance! Olivia and I freaked! I couldn’t believe my ears. How many people get the chance to share the stage with their favourite performer? We were so honored and excited to have that opportunity. In addition to the MMVA wristbands, she also gave us two tickets to see her concert with Rihanna on August 5! We then said our good-byes for the day, but knowing I would be on stage with her for rehearsal and for her actual performance the following day made the good-bye a little bit easier. MuchMusic told us that we would have to arrive early the next morning for the MMVA rehearsals to learn the choreography, which made us even more excited. The following day of infinite rehearsals was exhausting, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and we did get to see Ke$ha again. We even saw Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Down With Webster, and Katy Perry rehearse. That night we had been enjoying the show as part of the audience, but were called backstage just before Ke$ha’s performance, as part of the show. I was able to say a quick hello and good luck to her before she went on. It was time to go on stage. On stage! Live at the MMVAs! What a rush! Dancing on stage and being part of Ke$ha’s performance was a dream come true. I will never forget it. The jokes, the laughs, the adventure and the memories from My Date With Ke$ha is something I will forever remember. Now that I’ve had the chance to meet her, I think Ke$ha is not only a great performer, but an amazing individual. She deserves much more credit than she is granted for being the very strong woman that she is. She is bold, brave, and not afraid to be herself. Before this experience I thought I was a huge Ke$ha fan, but now that I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with her, I’m an even bigger fan! A big thank you to Ke$ha for giving up so much of her time to spend with us. Thank you also to MuchMusic for selecting me out of hundreds of entries to experience such an amazing opportunity of a lifetime. I cannot thank you enough! |

News flash: Pop star Kesha doesn’t really brush her teeth with a bottle of Jack Daniels. So don’t read too much into the first verse of her smash hit “Tik Tok.” Well, actually, she has brushed with Jack. But, the thing is, you can’t always take Kesha (rhymes with Tesh-a) at her word. she mixes sarcasm, a tongue-in-cheek attitude and a dash of irony into relentlessly catchy PG-13 pop concoctions that should be called A Girl Just Wants to have too Much Fun. In “Tik Tok,” the 23-year-old party animal rhymes “everybody getting crunk” with guys “trying to touch my junk” with a boy “getting too drunk.” While those lyrics might put parents in a funk, they helped put Kesha’s electro-pop dance floor celebration at the top of the pop charts for nine weeks this winter. That was the longest run at no. 1 for a debut single by a female artist since — no kidding — Debby Boone’s “You Light up my Life” in 1977. “I couldn’t think of two more different songs, but I salute her,” says Kesha, who opens for Rihanna at Shoreline Amphitheatre on Saturday. “Tik Tok” is romantic in a different sense — like a girls-gone-wild sense. Kesha says the song is about the notion that “anybody can feel like a pimp.” “I wrote that when I was really broke and didn’t have a pot to (pee) in,” she says, “but I was feeling really awesome. It’s like a celebration of being young and broke. maybe life isn’t like quote-unquote ‘perfect,’ but you’re not letting anything stop you from having a good time.” Rolling Stone described her chart-topping album “Animal,” with its percolating beats and deadpan raps, as either “propulsively catchy or repulsively moronic.” as with Lady Gaga, music listeners seem to either love or hate Kesha. the haters talk not just about the party-out-of-control lyrics but also about the over-the-top real-life tales. She vomited in Paris Hilton’s closet. “Oh, I was 17,” says Kesha, who sang backup on Hilton’s 2006 CD. “Whatever.” She lived in her late grandfather’s Lincoln Continental after moving to Los Angeles. “I just lived in it for, like, two weeks and parked it by the beach ’cause I didn’t have an apartment yet. It was really roomy, spacious, comfortable. Can’t complain.” Then there was the time she broke into Prince’s Beverly Hills mansion a couple of years ago and left him a demo tape of her music. he never called. “I might issue a formal apology and pull him up onstage and make him dance with me,” Kesha says. “I’d want to say: ‘Sorry if you think I’m crazy. I’m not. I’m just ambitious.’ “ Kesha Rose Sebert was born in 1987 in Los Angeles to a single mother who isn’t sure who Kesha’s father is. Pebe Sebert tasted success as a Nashville songwriter (her “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You” was a hit for Dolly Parton in 1980), then tried to make it as a singer-songwriter in L.A. when Kesha was 6 or 7, Pebe moved back to Nashville with her three children. Growing up on Johnny Cash, Shania Twain and Bob Dylan (his “Nashville Skyline” is her all-time favorite album), she started writing songs at 14. three years later, via a friend of a friend, her demo tape wound up in the hands of Dr. Luke, the hot producer behind Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been gone.” “I thought her voice was distinctive, and I fell in love with her personality,” Dr. Luke told Entertainment Weekly. “She had the same sass and irreverence she has now.” He invited her to Los Angeles, so Kesha quit high school weeks before graduation and passed on a scholarship to Barnard College in New York. But Luke got tied up on other projects, and Kesha was broke for two years. Hence, Ms. Irony added the dollar sign to her stage name: Ke$ha. In the fall of 2008, Dr. Luke reconnected with Kesha and finally delivered on his promises. she sang the hook on Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” which went to no. 1 last year, and recorded “Animal,” which debuted at no. 1 in January. Kesha has been on the fast track all year: she appeared on the Grammys in January, sang on “American Idol” in March and “Saturday Night Live” in April, and is hitting the road this summer with Rihanna and Lilith Fair. With “Animal,” she has scored three Top 10 singles, all of which she cowrote. the current one, “Your love Is my Drug,” was one of three writing collaborations with her mother. “She helped complete my thoughts,” Kesha explains. “She’s an incredible songwriter. Her and I are best friends. I’m just really honest with her — as I am with the entirety of the world at this point.” What she’s doing is all in good fun, Kesha says: “My intention is to make people happy and give them a momentary escape from reality.” She doesn’t complain about how people perceive her. “People can take me seriously or they can’t. I’m a serious artist and a serious songwriter. I’ve written for Miley Cyrus and the Veronicas and (“iCarly” star) Miranda Cosgrove. I will continue to write and make records for a really long time. I think respect comes with time. So I’m not going anywhere.” The most misunderstood thing about her, she thinks, is her drinking habits. “I think people think I’m drunk every morning,” she says with a giggle. “But I’m not drunk every morning. not every morning.” Asked to describe herself, Kesha demurs. she cautions that she may sound vain, but goes on to describe herself as, “Musical, magical. I can fly. I can paint. I’m glittery. I like unicorns. I’m snazzy. I am wearing fake fur. I like shiny things. I don’t like mangos because I’m allergic to them. I like jumping in the ocean. And sometimes I brush my teeth with Jack Daniels.” “Just once a week,” she says with an I-might-be-pulling-your-leg giggle. |

The outspoken Tik Tok is often thought of as being a party-loving girl and now she has revealed what she thinks it takes to have a good time. “There are a lot of things that make a good party,” said the 23-year-old, “it’s not where you are, like they think in Hollywood – it’s not all about getting into the hottest party. “I 100% think it’s who you’re with. Get your best friends who are fun then wherever you go should be a good party,” Ke$ha explained. As for her party outfits, the Blah Blah Blah hitmaker said she enjoys wearing “a lot of glitter and a nice pair of boots too. I don’t do heels – I like to run around and climb on stuff. You can’t do that in heels.” |

She angered fictional parents in her “Tik Tok” video, pranced around with the boys of 3OH!3 in her “Blah Blah Blah” clip and frolicked with a bearded boyfriend in an animated desert for her “Your Love Is My Drug” video. It might seem like Ke$ha had already done it all, but she ups the ante again in her latest clip. In photos from the singer’s “Take It Off” video set, she’s seen wearing really, really short shorts, a white fur coat and even rocking super-high platforms while posing on a motorcycle. And Ke$ha even returns to the desert, joined by a number of dancers in the sand. For the video, it looks like Ke$ha ditched her signature waves for straightened locks, a look that is more polished than we’re used to seeing from the party-girl pop star. But, of course, Ke$ha is keeping it dirrrty by including some face paint and covering herself in the aforementioned sand. “Take It Off” is the latest single from Ke$ha’s highly infectious Animal debut, released earlier this year. In the past, Ke$ha has said that the album is a perfect representation of who she was as a person while she was recording it with super-producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke. “I’m excited about it, because it kind of accurately documents my life over the past four years,” explained Ke$ha, who is currently on the road with Rihanna. “And I think any girl, and hopefully guys too, can relate to the record. I talk about pretty much anything — you name it. … I think that throughout the album, what I’m really proud of — I think every song you can tell it’s me. It’s all really honest — almost to a fault — and really genuine.” Source: MTV |

An X-rated photo began circulating the internet yesterday (July 7), purportedly showing the “TiK ToK” hit-maker baring her breasts and engaging in a sexual activity. The girl in the photo has wild blonde hair that resembles the singer’s signature look but her face below her nose was conveniently tagged by the photo leaker.A rep for the partygirl pop star has denied that Ke$ha is the girl in the photo, issuing a statement to GossipCop.com stating simply, “This is not Ke$ha in the photos.” Had the photo been legit, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Ke$ha has recently released a new single from her chart-topping debut album, Animal, titled “Take It Off.” Source: Neon Limelight |
